HipSafety | FAQ

Is there any clinical evidence to support that hip protectors prevent hip fractures?

Yes, a Cochrane review, "Hip protectors for preventing hip fractures in older people", including 19 studies, nine of which were cluster randomised, and included approximately 17,000 people, mean age range 78 to 86 years, concluded that hip protectors probably reduce the risk of hip fractures if made available.

The pads used in Hipsafety's hip protector underwear are CE- certified according to EN-1621 and are used as protection in motorbike clothing, which is the highest safety standard in Europe.

What happens if I happen to wash the protective pads?

If you occasionally wash the pads nothing will happen with the protective foam itself, but the cover material can loosen.  This does not change the performance of the pads and the pads will still protect you when you fall.

Which size should you choose?

If you are hesitating which size to fits you best, pick the smaller size. It is an advantage if the hip protection underwear has a tight fit as the pads are better fitted over the hips.

If I bought the wrong size, what do I do?

Please contact us at E3 Health and we will arrange to exchange the size.

Are you able to use the pads again after you have fallen on them?

Yes, the pads are not impacted by you falling on them and they can be used again.
